The aluminium components used in WINDOWSHELF need to be cut so they fit each window properly. Cutting is easily done by a competent DIYer or handy-person during fitting. Make installation even quicker by using our Custom Cutting service - here's how to take the measurement(s) we need.
FIRST, take a few moments to consider your preferred shelf location(s). There are lots of possibilities, including:
Top third
Central
Bottom third
Top half
Equal
Spread
IMPORTANT: Consider the location of your window catch. Be sure to adjust your shelf location up or down to allow easy access.
Now that you have marked out the installation location for your shelf or shelves here is how to take your custom cutting measurement. You will need a tape measure and pencil.
On the LEFT hand side and in line with your location mark put a pencil mark in the middle of your recess. Do this for each shelf.
Do the same thing on the RIGHT hand side.
Now, for each shelf, measure between these marks IN MILLIMETERS (mm). A second pair of hands will be useful for wider windows.
THIS IS THE MEASUREMENT WE NEED
Do not alter or adjust this measurement to compensate for the bracket thickness - we will do that.
